For everyone in the greater Modesto area, tomorrow May 19th is Lemonade Day.
This is an awesome community event spearheaded by Tammie Colbert-Webb and many others to help kids learn a little bit about how to run their own business by creating a lemonade stand. So our pick for Friday Faves is Lemonade Day.
Lemonade Day was started in Houston, Texas and has spread across the country. According to www.lemonadeday.org"Youth learn how to create budgets, secure investors, select a site, serve customers, set profit-making goals, repay investors, and give back to the community. They have the opportunity to open their first business and show the community what they’ve learned. By starting their own business, kids gain valuable entrepreneurial skills infused with life skills such as character development, empowerment, and financial freedom. Lemonade Day sets them on a path of financial learning and goal setting that can continue throughout their lives." Now how cool is that?
You can check out the link here for a Google map of all the Lemonade Stand locations and the businesses supporting these kids. GO BUY SOME LEMONADE AND HEAR THEIR STORIES!!!
Here is one of my favorite lemonade recipes from allrecipes.com
- In a small saucepan, combine sugar and 1 cup water. Bring to boil and stir to dissolve sugar. Allow to cool to room temperature, then cover and refrigerate until chilled.
- Remove seeds from lemon juice, but leave pulp. In pitcher, stir together chilled syrup, lemon juice and remaining 7 cups water.
Have a great weekend!
