Happy New Year!!!

Happy New Year to all of you!!!

Recently I invited a few friends over to the house for a Prosperous New Year Dinner Party to celebrate and look forward to the abundance of this year's opportunities.   As I wanted to give the dinner a Chinese theme, the dinner was based on Chinese New Year.  According to Chinese astrology, 2013 is the Year of the Black Water Snake and most people will experience a mix of good and bad fortune.

 The Menu

Appetizers

Potstickers

Egg Rolls

Fried Prawns

Chicken In Foil

Soup

Egg Flower Soup

Salad

Chinese Chicken Salad

Dinner

Cashew Nut Chicken

Peking Spare Ribs

Pork Friend Rice

Pork Chow Mein

Dessert

Because of time constraints, I prepared some of the dinner in my kitchen and went to my fav Chinese Take Out for the rest of the food.  Hint:  Take the food out of their containers and fill serving dishes that can be warmed in the oven.

Centerpiece was a manzanita branch placed in a plastic flower pot weighted with plaster of paris, sprayed black, wrapped in copper lame, and placed on a mirror in the center of the table.  Fortune cookie ornaments hang from ribbons with personalized messages for dinner guests.

Place settings had a touch of holiday charm using Christmas plates. The favors were made with silver Chinese take out boxes filled with  flavored almonds for good health and chocolate gold coins for good fortune, then tied with black ribbon and a personalized New Year message printed on copper card stock for each guest.

Chinese New Year comes in February!  Hope this post inspires you to have a Chinese New Year Party!

Elementally,
